My name is Raiko Mesterheide and this is my personal blog. I’m currently working as a Systems Engineer at VMware Global, Inc. I’m a so called Core-SE, and not tied to one of our business units like NSBU for NSX or Storage BU for VSAN. I’m responsible for knowledge transfer and Pre-Sales activities for German partners, customers, and distributors. As a technical resource inside VMware it is my pleasure to explain the business value of our products, draw the big picture and demonstrate how we as a software company solve real business issues. Product oriented speaking, my expertise covers vCloud Air, vRealize Operations, vRealize Automation, Log Insight, Virtual SAN, Horizon, NSX and vSphere. I Hold VCP-DCV 3, 4, 5 and 6. VCP-NV, VCAP-DCV4 certifications. I’m a former full time VMware Trainer (VCI) and for this reason it’s my passion to educate people on the newest virtualization and cloud management technologies.
I’m was also a DataCore Certified Instructor and have taught the official trainings of both vendors from 2008 to 2014. Hence, my background is Infrastructure and Storage related. Especially as a DataCore trainer back in 2008 I was evangelizing customers to use a Storage Virtualization Product to gain benefits like abstraction, pooling and features like Stretched Cluster and transparent failover capabilities. Now at VMware i love to continue this path to explain the overall benefits of Hyper Converged Infrastructure solutions we bring to the table. If you take VSAN for example. This product evolved from version to version and is at a stage where its really an enterprise grad Software Defined Storage solution. And be sure, VSAN keeps the pace in terms of new features and capabilities.
I joined VMware in February 2015 and love to start every day full of curiosity, gaining knowledge and try to shape my personal skill set. VMware takes personal development seriously and gives me the chance to evolve. I’ll continue to blog about virtualization and cloud related topics, to act as a multiplier in spreading the word about our Mobility, Cloud and Software-Defined Datacenter strategies. If you have any question, please do not hesitate to contact me directly.
